File descriptors ulimit too low

On Solaris the default value for file descriptor ulimit is 256 and that is too low.

Please check the file descriptors ulimit on your server:

ulimit -n

We sometimes see issues where the processes don't close when Solaris servers hit the limit of file descriptors (servant processes). Solution: Please adjust the file descriptor ulimit and see if that clears up the issue. We recommend around 1000. For sh or ksh:

# /usr/bin/ulimit -n 1000

csh uses limit/unlimit instead of ulimit
