when will it be of more benefit to use command line instead of a graphical user interface?

when your xml configuration file becomes bigger. It will take some time before your Remote GUI loads completely.

Most of the time command line SSH/SFTP is used for scripting or when using non-graphical OS'es like unix/linux. Its also a matter of preference, or what the user is used to.

For configuration setup it depends on the complexity of your configuration and your experience with XML. Our configs are XML based (to allow for more configuration flexibility) so it can be easier for some to user the graphical user interface to setup their configurations, over editing the XML files in a text editor.
