We are sometimes getting 411 & 412 errors with "Server is shutting down. Local Disconnect" as the reason text. There are following a 1000-KEX_Failure error.

We understand that the key exchange fails but the 411 & 412 messages don't make much sense to us. Is it the remote client shutting down or is it a local process? Also, we know that the Tectia Server is not shutting down at the time and there is no 103 event.

Any thoughts?

Indeed, the "Server is shutting down. Local Disconnect" message seen in the client, if the server is shutting down, seems to be a wrong message indeed, probably caused by some other previous error, as you point, those Kex failures could lead to that.

Do you receive such a message after closing the connection from the client side? Or the connection just gets disconnected?

What does the server log say when this client is disconnected?

The errors reported are from the server side, there is no other information available and we can see other connections being establish at the same time without issues.

On the client side they get the "Server is shutting down, Local Disconnect" message as well.

The error occurs when the connection is being establish. First the key exchange fails - we don't know why, we were counting on the next message to tell us why - and then we get these error messages.
