I am running on a windows system. This works when I use the password on the command line. When I try to run with a password file, the command fails.

call sftpg3.exe -B wftp_script.txt --password=file://C:Scriptbinwftp_pw.txt

Failed to get password: File C:Scriptbinwftp_pw.txt couldn't be read: faulty permissions.

The password file in in the directory I am running from. -rw-rw-rw- 1 user 0 8 2012-01-05 12:45 C:Scriptbinwftp_pw.txt

The password file must not be readable by other users.

SSH client applications do check the permissions/ACL on the password file, similarly as they do check it on private keys and similar sensitive information. It will refuse to use information that can be maliciously altered by other users.

The access control list can allow access for SYSTEM user and group of administrators and the owner. If other users can read this file, it will refuse to use it.

It worked for me after setting proper Access Control List. Version of Client I used was 6.2.2.

Was this helpful?
