login about faq

Using SSH Tectia Client version, trying to connect to remote UNIX AIX server. My username and password have previously been working for about six weeks; however, now when I try to login with my username and password (which I know are correct), I'm given the following error message:

Failed to open secure terminal session: broker failure.

Other users are able to login with their username and password just fine. The issue appears to be isolated to just my user ID. Here is the output from the logs:

[Jun 9 14:12:23] 703 Auth_methods_available, Auth methods: publickey,password,keyboard-interactive, Session-Id: E2B32AD513F992631F6FD7690AD77577FFA798A8

[Jun 9 14:12:37] 6005 Broker_exec_channel_open_failed, Client: sshclientng.exe, Pid: 5948, Server: removed_for_security, Server Port: 22, Remote username: removed_for_security, Local username: removed_for_security, Command: (null), "Terminal width: 80 chars, Terminal height: 24 rows, Terminal width: 640 pixels, Terminal height: 480 pixels, Stderr type: separate, Is subsystem?: FALSE, Allocate pty?: TRUE, X11 forwarding?: retain, Agent forwarding?: retain, X11 Display Variable: :0, Agent variable: (null), Term variable: vt100", Channel Id: 4, "Operation failed", Session-Id: E2B32AD513F992631F6FD7690AD77577FFA798A8

Need help to get this resolved. Thanks in advance for your support.

What is the SSH server version? What does the server log for the connection attempt, does it see the connection?

I realize this is a stale thread, but I couldn't find any threads with even the slightest hint. Since I now do have a hint, here it is: I found that there were a large number of abandoned Tectia terminal sessions. After killing several processes (it took a -9 to get them to go away), The "broker failure" error stopped occurring. I didn't research what limit we had hit, but I assume there is a tunable parameter somewhere which controls the number of ptys or some other related resource.
